Climate Change Adaptation
Across the Tarangire-Manyara Ecosystem and Tanzania at large, climate change is no longer a distant threat—it is an immediate reality. Prolonged droughts, drying riverbeds, and increasingly unpredictable rainfall patterns are directly altering fragile ecosystems and putting immense pressure on climate-sensitive pastoralist and farming communities.
At TACCEI, we meet this challenge with an integrated, community-driven approach. By coupling targeted landscape restoration with sustainable, nature-based livelihoods, we build grassroots resilience from the ground up. Our mission ensures that the people living closest to these landscapes are fully equipped, adaptive, and empowered to thrive alongside a changing climate.
Our core conservation pillars are:
The Schools & Community-Led Reforestation
In close partnership with public schools and communities, we establish and manage modern tree nurseries right on school grounds.
These nurseries actively raise native shade and fruit tree seedlings, acting as the primary pipeline for our broader rangeland restoration and tree-planting programs. This model simultaneously improves local microclimates, secures school compounds, and introduces hands-on environmental education to the next generation.
Currently, our tree nurseries raise 100,000 tree seedlings yearly.
Resilient Communities & Eco-Entrepreneurship
Climate adaptation is impossible without economic security. To reduce community vulnerability to climate shocks, we help diversify traditional, climate-sensitive livelihoods.
At TACCEI, we provide targeted training and seed support for nature-positive, climate-smart businesses.
By fostering resilient entrepreneurship such as conservation-compatible value-added enterprises and sustainable resource management, we empower local communities to generate stable incomes, reduce external dependency, and thrive alongside their natural landscapes.
Amplifying Youth Voices in Climate Policy
The true sustainability requires systemic representation. Young people are the primary stakeholders of tomorrow’s environment, yet their perspectives are historically left out of governance.
At TACCEI, we create structured platforms and dialogues that actively engage youth in environmental governance, climate workshop facilitation, and adaptation strategies.
We bridge the gap between rural landscapes and decision-makers, elevating the lived experiences of local youths directly into national climate policy dialogues, ensuring their voices structurally shape the future of environmental planning in Tanzania.
